CPS Superintendent Jason Black and Conway Police Chief Chris Harris share an important message regarding recent school safety threats.

Over the past several days, Conway Public Schools and local law enforcement responded quickly and effectively to ensure student and staff safety. While schools remained safe, leaders emphasize that all threats are taken seriously, investigated thoroughly, and can result in serious consequences.

Students are encouraged to think carefully before posting on social media, and parents are urged to have ongoing conversations with their children about responsible decision-making. Keeping schools safe is a shared responsibility.

CPS and the Conway Police Department remain committed to working together with families and the community to protect and support every student. If you see or hear something concerning, please report it to your school or local law enforcement immediately.

Message Sent to Families & Staff Evening of April 16 from Superintendent Jason Black

Good evening Conway families and staff,

As the week comes to a close, I want to thank you for your support, patience, and partnership. This week presented challenges that required quick action and strong coordination, and I’m proud of how our teachers, staff, SROs, Conway Police Department and Conway Fire Department worked together to keep our campuses safe. Our teachers and staff handled this week with professionalism, care, and a strong focus on students, and I’m grateful for their work.

As we move forward, our focus is simple, getting back to the important work of teaching and learning. Our schools will operate as normal and I look forward to welcoming our students back ready to learn and finish the week strong.

I recorded a short video with Chief Harris that will be shared tomorrow. In it, we reinforce the seriousness and consequences of making threats, while also encouraging parents to stay engaged, have conversations with their children, and communicate with schools if concerns arise.

I appreciate your trust and support. It takes all of us working together to ensure a safe and positive environment for our students.

Have a great evening, and Go Wampus Cats.

Jason Black
